Jajja’s Kids is a unique nonprofit with two organizations working together – one in the USA and one in Africa
Two teams of adults who are working in a collaborative and supportive manner to give 19 of Ugandan’s former street children a chance for a better future.
Jajja’s Kids, Inc. has operated in name and spirit since 2008 to support the work of helping Ugandan children. The organization became a nonprofit in 2012, under the fiscal sponsorship of Operation Unite-NY. In 2014, Jajja’s Kids was incorporated and became its own independent, tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Jajja’s Kids-Africa grew in parallel with Jajja’s Kids in the U.S., and became incorporated in Uganda in 2014. Initially operating in Kampala, Uganda as a government-approved Community-Based Organization (CBO), in 2017 it became a non-governmental organization (NGO). As such, it is nationally recognized in Uganda as an international nonprofit organization. Jajja’s Kids-Africa is also fully sanctioned to operate a children’s home in Kampala, overseen and guided by the Ugandan government.
Jajja’s Kids, Inc. has been acknowledged by two African organizations, receiving a Global Initiative award from the Capital District SUSU Women’s Association, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the East African Community Organization.
